On the 18th of October Tomsk based, Russian IT Company “ELECARD” celebrated the grand opening of a Representative Office in Asia in Vungtau City, Vietnam. Vungtau-city.com (VCC) representative talked to the President of the company Mr. Andrey Posdnyakov.
VCC: If I asked you to introduce Elecard, how would you start?
Mr. Andrey Posdnyakov: We have 9000 clients companies from 73 countries all over the world and among them, ABM, Apple, Intel, Google and others. The only Russian company that can be compared with us is “Kaspersky Lab”.
We are developing technologies that are not in high demand now, because nobody knows about them, but the demand will grow in 5-7 years.
Today, during the opening ceremony of our Office in Vung Tau, we demonstrated the possibilities of 3D monitor, but this technology will not be sold for the next year or two, only later increasing demand is going to start. Our experience, certainly not with absolute accuracy, predicts market behavior. We are accustomed to schedule for several years ahead.
VCC: Why Vietnam?
Mr. Andrey Posdnyakov: We had an office in Southeast Asia – in Thailand. But there we faced a lack of qualified personnel. It was impossible to hire a professional engineer there. And when I talked with potential Vietnamese partners at the first time, I saw that they fully complied with our requirements and were ready to grow with us.
VCC: What are your plans for next year?
Mr. Andrey Posdnyakov: To evolve, of course! By our first anniversary we are planning to have a fully completed representative office with more than 15 employees, both Vietnamese and Russians.
In the future we expect to form a team of Vietnamese engineers who will be able to make modifications for specific customers.
VCC: What are the main activities of the Vietnamese office?
Mr. Andrey Posdnyakov: At the moment it is customer service mainly, sales support. The office will sell Elecard products and offer technical support to customers throughout Southeast Asia.
The office will work with clients in such countries as Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and Japan.

Mr. Andrey Posdnyakov also said during opening ceremony that this is first Tomsk company which opened office in Vietnam. Actually there was one more long time before – NPO “Geofit”. They had rep office here in Vung Tau and they were supplying MWD systems to Joint Venture Vietsovpetro in 1994-1996.
