Vung Tau night market construction has been started

Vung Tau was probably the only tourist city in the region without night market or walking street. Today this lack will be compensated in full. Local authorities have made a decision to build first in the city night market or how it will be officially called “VUNG TAU TOURISM MARKET”.

The experience of other Asian cities such as Siem Riep (Cambodia), Pattaya (Thailand) was taken as a basis.
Market will be located on the area of 4 hectares right behind Medicoast, Imperial and Sammy hotels and will have one main street and several small streets with many stalls and kiosks.

Parking for 500 cars is also in project. The total investment in this project will be more then 1,1 millions USD.

good news. I hope they will do everything good to attract people there.. Vung tau really need place like this… sometimes dont know where to go with family at night

Walking street in Pattaya is not the best example I think.
Better take an experience of Siem Riep Night Market, this place is really attractive and interesting for tourists.
If Vung Tau will have night market like this much more foreigner tourists will come here

  3. KEN NGO says:

Because Vung Tau is surrounded by ocean. I hope the tourist market will have
Lots of fresh sea food like the night market in Phuoc Quoc island. I would like to see that happen, it would bring more tourist to Vung Tau. When the food is good and the place is clean, eventually more people will come. Vung Tau has the most beautiful road in Vietnam.

Amazing the number of tourism experts that comment here …

I fear the problem with this night market is that is it very contrived and unnatural and that it will replace the booths and places to eat that have always appeared along Thuy Van (Back Beach) at night.

I prefer that over segregated and controlled environments any time.

  5. RICO says:

PS. Mt favorite part about the second photo down is that it appears to indicated that the Imperial Hotel will be removed to better facilitate the Night Market. That could make it worthwhile.

  6. vungtausurf says:

Agree with RICO. This place looks unnatural and makes impression of uncomfortable place. Naturally markets appear in the places where people feel themselves comfortable and where easy to come … very difficult to push people to go to the place that was chosen by someone (in our case by local authorities). It would be better to upgrade facilities and develop the old place on Thuy Van street that appeared spontaneously.
Anyway, hope this new market in Vung Tau will grow someday.
