Surfing Championship of Russian Federation 2012 will be held in Vung Tau

Surfing Championship of Russian Federation 2012, that was planned to be held in Russian Far Eastern City of Vladivostok at the beginning of August was moved to November and competitions will be hold on the “Back Beach” in Vung Tau City.

As was reported by Far East Branch of the Russian Federation of Surfing, due to the abnormally high activity of sharks in the coastal waters of the Russian Far East surfing competitions in 2012 in Vladivostok were canceled.

According to the source, the Cup of Russia on surfing had to be held from 27 July to 10 August in the waters of the bay near Vladivostok. Competitions of this kind have already been held in Far East twice – in 2010 and 2011. This year, however, as emphasized in the Far East Branch of the Russian Federation of Surfing, the official organizers of the competition were strongly recommended by local authorities to cancel high-risk activities on the water.

“The situation with sharks is becoming more worse. And in order to avoid risks, competitions had to be canceled”- said Yaroslav Klokoff – the vice President of Russian Federation of Surfing.

“Nevertheless, competitions are not canceled. This Championship is a great event for the country, for which we were preparing all year. That is why it was decided to move Competitions to Vietnam” – Yaroslav said.

Previously, Championship was held in Russian cities Sankt Petersburg and Vladivostok, on Bali Island (Indonesia) and in Spain.

This will be the first surfing contest of the such large scale in Vung Tau. And, of course it will be good chance to promote the City as good surfing spot during autumn and winter time.
