NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT NEAR VUNGTAU IS GOING TO BE CONSTRUCTED SOON

New airport – “Long Thanh International Airport” will have four runways with the size of 4,000 m length and 60 m width each for being capable of landing heavy planes such as the A380 “Airbus” new jumbo jet.

Its designated to handle up to 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year.
Prime Minister asked Ministry of Transport for giving instructions to Vietnam Aviation Department to implement Long Thanh airport project as early as possible. The airport project is scheduled to complete till the end of 2015.
The Long Thanh International Airport will become one of the largest airports in the region.

I will unload the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, which handles two-thirds of all international arrivals in Vietnam, with traffic growing at 20% a year. Expansion of Tan Son Nhat that was built in the early 1930s is constrained by its location inside the crowded Ho Chi Minh City, a limited area for expansion and safety concerns that make it hard to upgrade in order to meet increasing demand on the international fights market.

Excellent! Can’t wait for the new airport in Long Thanh as it will be closer and easier to get to from my home here in Bien Hoa.

  3. Mickey Lee says:

Actually Vungtau has airport already, small one but can operate with short range aircrafts such as French ATR 72, German Fokker F28 or Russian An 24, as well theoretically can accept middle range airplanes such as Canadian Bombardier CRJ or Russian Yak 40 for example.
Its quite strange why this airport do not use for domestic flights.
Route Vungtau-Hanoi, for example, should be busy on 100 % all year round.
Hundreds of people from Vung Tau and Ba Ria everyday go to Saigon Tan Son Nhat airport to fly to Hanoi spending on the road to airport 2-3 hours.

There was daily flight from Vungtau to Con Dao Islands on An24 aircraft not long time ago.
Now only helecopters fly to the offshore platforms and drilling rigs.
The runway still looks good and has 1800 m lenth

To launch flight Vungtau – Hanoi is a good idea, but too much fantastic.
How many flights can be done per day with 100% occupation? 1 return flight only. If air company has extra craft they better launch one more flight on the “golden route” – Hanoi-HCMC, making 5 return flights everyday

Yeah right. More bullshit propaganda. Seen it, heard it. Won’t happen.
